Album of the year - 8th place

Anaal Nathrakh - 'The Whole of the Law'

Simply a band who always sound like the heaviest band you've ever heard, with every single album which comes out. Anaal Nathrakh have released 9 albums now, some of the most brilliantly constructed death/black/grind/pernicious metal ever heard, as well as some times putting out albums which have received criticism for moving in overly industrial circles or bringing the extremity down just a touch.

Well 'The Whole of the Law' simply cannot be criticised for the level of extremity on show, this is up to Spinal Tap numbers before making your eyes bleed, its Anaal Nathrakh at their best. Vicious, violent and creative, mixing sheer intensity with pure adrenaline to scare the shit out of anyone sitting next to you on a bus, this is how extreme metal should be done.

As oppressive as Mugabe regime, Anaal Nathrakh have always sounded like they are going to fucking kill you, and now, they have the song to prove it, in the stand out track on the album "We Will Fucking Kill You".

This is simply brilliant.
